Alpe Du Huez

It’s been a week and a half since we started opening in Alpe Du Huez with some great results for BASI members and candidates on a whole.

In fact the standard of candidates has taken a big step up from previous years. Conditions played a big role as the fresh snow that hampered the tuesday test settle down and provided the perfect base for racing. Joe Cain was successful after 6 years of trying which made that particular day very special.

The opening times have been consistent with times being set by the French, British and Italian openers. James has set a few times and has been within a tenth of setting on multiple occasions. Craig’s knee is holding up well and the speed is returning quickly as he is also in the mix for setting times.

The weekend break was a busy one for the JJC boys as they headed to Verbier and back for some Ski Cross coaching. Monday brought some colder temps and the hill has started to firm up even more under foot with patches of slicker snow starting to come through.

Lets hope it holds up well as we have one final day to go, seven BASI members are on the list to start and we wish them the best of luck!
